Strolling to The Bay on a hot and sunny afternoon. Calming myself into the waves to come. Surf's up. But as is usual in Morocco, the unexpected is around every corner. Here at Imsouane, there is more than just surfers to contend with when the waves are pumping. Apart from the waves, there is the current and 'all the young dudes' all wanting to be stars and carrying attitude in large doses of testosterone fueled angst. And then there's the fishing boats !! In the lineup, waiting for their chance to land the day's catch.

They have priority. No 'my wave' here.
The waves are beautiful. But as I've hinted, the wait can be long and getting 'that one' and in my case, the only one, can take quite a while. The ride in The Bay is the longest right-hander I know. It's ten normal waves in one ! It goes on for so long, that at the end of my one wave, my poor little legs had given up from repetitive strain injury. By the time you walk back up the beach, it's enough for me. One wave wonder.
And more wave wonders.
But as the sun sets on the days delight, it also brings to a close Simon's stay. In many ways, Simon is The Bay to us. He spends all his days here at the campsite, surfing every day and always The Bay if it's happening. He brings you hot bread in the morning, constant updates on surf conditions and gives his time and knowledge to anyone who wants it. He's a sweetheart and we rushed here to spend these last eight days with him.
It's been great Simon.
See you next time
